Bill of Landing – abbreviation. Meaning; a document issued by either a carrier, or its agent which acts as a contract of the carriage of goods agreed with a shipper. Which too acts as a receipt for cargo approved for transportation and is necessary for taking delivery at the destination – where it must be presented.

A shipment that is hauled back over part of a route that has previously been travelled.
